Now that the gallery is freed up, we can get back on the workshop bandwagon - pysanka 2.0
If you'd like to attend, please email email@example.com
Join us in practising the age-old spring tradition of the pysanka. This Ukrainian folk design uses the batik method of wax and dyes to create beautiful geometric forms, all on chicken eggs, which represent the end of winter and birth of the new year.
"The Hutsul people of the Carpathian Mountains believe that the fate of the world depends on the pysanka. As long as the egg decorating custom continues, the world will exist. If this custom is abandoned, evil in the form of a serpent will overrun the world." -Folk Customs of Our People (Звичаї Нашого Народу)
We will learn about techniques, symbolism, history, and whatever else peaks your curiosity.
$10 covers all supplies and you get to take your pysanka home. If that's too much, we can talk it over.
If you already have a kistka (stylus) bring it so more people can participate.
Beginners and kids 7+ welcome!
